The Perfect Start and End To Our Days

We spent Saturday morning at V-land (you should have been there Velzy!). While enjoying the sun and sand and watching for Daddy to catch waves I noticed Joel Tudor stretching and putting his leash on right next to us! I'm all excited and tell the kids that Joel Tudor, one of my favorite surfers, and the best long boarder in the world was about to paddle out. Taj, sensing my excitement I'm sure says he is Joel Tudor and tells me he just caught some good waves. Then he tells me his name is Joel Tudor because he toots a lot. I'm cracking up and wondering how many times Joel got teased for that very thing when he was growing up and Taj tells me, "It's not a joke." I love the way that boys brain works.

After a lazy afternoon we needed to get out and run around. We landed at Castle Beach where we really just ran around. The kids started running and didn't stop. They ran up and down the beach, into the white wash and away from the white wash. Taj ended up soaked and we were all giddy from the fun and heavenly beauty of this place.

Hammer Time

I saw MC Hammer on the Ellen Show and was really impressed with it. On the show they addressed his faith and bankruptcy. He said that going into his career he made a vow to dedicate one song per album to God. I thought that was kind of rare and never knew that when I was watching him "break it down" all those years ago. During the interview Ellen also asked him about his bankruptcy and asked him for advice for all the people that have lost their jobs and homes. His reply to that really blew me away. He said that after he was done touring and had made millions he knew the country was in bad times then too so he kept all 200 of his tour employees on payroll. He felt like that was never a waste of his money and he gained much more by doing that then he lost and that's why there's no record of him complaining about it.
He said that for all those out there that have lost jobs and think they've lost everything, they have way bigger problems cuz as long as they have family and real friends they should feel grateful. That's much easier said than done, but what an awesome example of gratitude. And to think that all this time his music, name and pants meant nothing more to me than the memory of me dancing to "Can't Touch This" at a BYUH basketball game and some bad outfits in the fifth grade.

Serious Silliness

Micah and I have found that the kids do way better when there's only one parent around. When it's just one or the other with the kids they are sweet, helpful, fun little people, but when we're both around it's a totally different experience. After a while they start with the whining and the naughtiness. We definitely need to throw extra sleepy in the equation, and Micah and I might be a little more distracted around these parts. Either way, these curious little monkeys are getting into everything. Good thing that's encouraged at the beach.

Sun always shines on Sundays

Everyone needs a break. Everyone with a family needs a day set aside for doing nothing with the people they love. For us Sunday is that day.
We awoke today to a glowing and glorious Sunday. Back in Utah we go to church and to Nana's for dinner, but the hours around all of that are l-o-n-g. We play and have fun for a while, but then the stir crazy and tired of the same ol' sets in and when it's the middle of winter there aren't many options of things to do or places to go on a Sunday. I guess I should blame my creativity, or rather the lack thereof.
But today was wonderful. We scootered, explored tide pools, climbed trees, blew bubbles and just enjoyed life with each other. There were more spiritual and heavenly moments wrapped up in today than I've had in a long time. I know, again, my fault. I guess what I'm saying is that I want to make every Sunday this special.

Catching Up

Taj is a character. Seriously, always a different character. He's constantly informing me of who he is and correcting me when I name him wrong. Iron man, frog, baby chick, dark night, fireman, Ezra, Daddy, Pop pop.... I'm never sure what I'm going to get.Eden is our super artist. She loves to draw, especially on a blank piece of paper with pens. She can sit there for minutes (like five or ten, which is forever in Eden time).

Tubing is still fun and snow/ Utah is still cold. We're making the best of it.We just got back to Hawaii!!!!! I've been a little preoccupied and not picking up the camera like a person in Hawaii should. I'm saving the picture taking for when we tan up a little. We love this place!
